8 Years of Excellence
Edge Group Scotland Ltd Turns 8!
Weβre incredibly proud of what we have achieved since we started way back in 2016 but not as proud as we are of the young adults we have supported. Seeing the positive impact that the right support can have is revolutionary and itβs one of the things weβre most proud of.
Weβve gathered a small selection of highlights to share with you all so keep scrolling to find out how we got to where we are now!
Our Story So Far
2016
β¦it all started in Samβs spare room with Edge Healthcare Incorporated which quickly evolved into Edge Autism Ltd.
A person-centred support service for autistic young adults focusing on the many benefits of the great outdoors; harnessing the power of nature, specifically water, to facilitate the transition to independence and adulthood.
2017
Our very first 1:1 support client (whoo hoo!) came on board and was instrumental in paving the way in which we operate, using the outdoors, wilderness and water to shape our 1:1 support and encourage being outdoors, staying active and becoming independent.
Believe. Transform. Achieve. became our tag line and weβve stuck to it ever since.
2018
Our client base continued to expand and so did our staff team, so much so that we outgrew the first office (Samβs spare room!).
We moved to an office in our current home, Summers House at Eskmills Business Park in Musselburgh.
2019
We continue to expand our 1:1 support services for autistic young adults in East Lothian, Edinburgh and surrounding areas.
Surfing, paddleboarding, hiking, racquet sports, canoeing and kayaking, bushcraft skills and outdoor learning are just a small selection of the many outdoor activities we supported our clients to try, and thrive at.
2020
Edge Adventures was born. Fully supported respite adventure short breaks and experiences were in the makingβ¦then the pandemic hit.
β¦but we didn't let that stop us from providing 1:1 support for our clients when so many others didnβt, or couldnβt.
We had online support sessions and established bubbles and when it was safe to do so, we headed off on our very first Edge Adventure in Highland Perthshire; a weekend of camping, with some white water rafting thrown in for good measure.
2021
We had adventures in Highland Perthshire, The Trossachs, The Cairngorms and throughout the coastal areas of East Lothian
Bungee jumping, quad biking, clay pigeon shooting, raft building, canoeing, skiing, canyoning, white water rafting.
You name it, and if itβs an outdoor activity, weβve probably done it!
Our clients were able to do the things they thought they couldn't in a safe, fun and supported environment, getting outdoors, and experiencing unforgettable adventures with confidence.
2022
Edge goes international - our first international adventure jets off to sunny Fuerteventura for a week of sun, sea and surfing in one of the most epic surf spots on the planet.
With everyone at Edge loving the water as much as we do it wasnβt long before yet another string is added to our bow. Jamie and Gareth passed their ASI Instructor tests and Edge established itself as a fully accredited Stand Up Paddleboarding School, Edge Disability SUP. The only dedicated, adaptive, SUP school in the UK offering paddleboarding sessions for those with sensory, learning and physical disabilities
With our support clients achieving greatness, supported adventures heading out every other week, along with regular SUP sessions throughout the East Coastβ¦then Sam had another idea π‘
2023
2023 is hands down, the biggest year yet!
π‘ Samβs idea sees us add another offering to our services - The Edge Transitions Programme, piloted in August 2023 - a post-school, full-time, supported day service for autistic and ASN school leavers who need a more holistic, vocational approach to their transition to adulthood.
Edge Adventures goes long-haul with a much-anticipated trip to Japan!
It took us 3 attempts to get there (thanks COVID!) but we finally made it for a whistle-stop tour of Japanβs amazing sights including (but by no means limited to!) Manga drawing sessions, a visit to Akihabara, the Animation Museum, and even a trip to Tokyo Disney.
2024
With the success of our transformative supported day service for school leavers, we decided to offer a similar programme for a slightly older cohort and established the Life Programme. A part-time supported day service for 18 to 35 year olds with ASN, providing opportunities to develop real-life independence while supporting them to mature in the world around them.
We install a dedicated teaching kitchen in the Old Engine House to allow our team to deliver cooking sessions in a comfortable and relaxing environment. We joined up with even more partners to enrich the supported programmes and services we offer and we are getting ready to welcome a new intake of Transitions Programme attendees
We canβt wait to see what the next 8 years (and beyond!) bring to TeamEdge and what our clients will achieve.

What gives us the Edge
We work with young adults, with ASN, who are transitioning into adulthood and want greater independence and control in choosing their own path. We are proud to be person-centred support specialists, evidence-based practitioners and mentors for all of our Edge young people.
