We are a Living Wage Employer

Edge Group Scotland Ltd has become accredited as a Living Wage employer

At Edge Group Scotland Ltd we believe fair wages are the foundation of a just and thriving society. We are thrilled to announce that we have been accredited as a Real Living Wage employer, a sign of our commitment to providing our employees with a wage that reflects the true cost of living. This accreditation aligns with our core values and our dedication to creating a workplace where everyone can flourish.

What is the Real Living Wage?

The Real Living Wage is a voluntary hourly rate set independently, based on the cost of living, and is higher than the government’s minimum wage. It ensures individuals and families can meet their basic needs, including housing, food, and transportation, without struggling to make ends meet. By becoming a Real Living Wage employer, we are taking a step towards reducing income inequality and improving the well-being of our employees.

Our Commitment to Fair Wages

Our decision to pursue Real Living Wage accreditation was driven by our belief that our employees are our most valuable asset. We recognise that their hard work, dedication, and talent are the driving force behind our, and our clients,’ success. By paying a Real Living Wage, we are not just complying with legal requirements; we are investing in the financial security and overall quality of life of our team.

Our Living Wage commitment ensures everyone working at Edge Group Scotland Ltd receives a minimum hourly wage of £12 per hour. This rate is higher than the government minimum for over 21s, which currently stands at £11.44 per hour.

In Scotland, 91% of all jobs pay at least the real Living Wage, this is higher than in any other UK nation. Despite this, nearly 1 in 10 jobs still pay less than the real Living Wage which equates to 221,000 jobs.

The real Living Wage is the only UK wage rate calculated according to the costs of living. Employers choose to pay the real Living Wage voluntarily, recognising the value of their workers and ensuring that a hard day’s work receives a fair day’s pay.

Since 2011 the Living Wage movement has delivered a pay rise to over 64,000 people in Scotland and put over £485 million extra into the pockets of low-paid Scottish workers.

What This Means for Our Team

For our employees, this accreditation means a fair wage that reflects their dedication and the rising cost of living. It means peace of mind, the ability to provide for their families, and the freedom to focus on their careers and personal growth without the constant worry of financial instability. We want our team to know that we value their contributions, and this accreditation is a tangible demonstration of that appreciation.

David Myers, Head of Operations Edge Group Scotland Ltd

“It is vitally important to us that all our employees are paid a fair living wage; a wage which reflects the actual cost of living. The Real Living Wage is a way to show that we understand that our staff are our best asset – without them, we cannot deliver high-quality, specialist support services to our clients.

Paying the Real Living Wage is the right thing to do morally and we would urge more businesses in Scotland to join us in being accredited by the Living Wage Foundation.”

Peter Kelly, Director of The Poverty Alliance said:

“We all need an income that is enough to cover our needs and protect us from poverty, and it’s only right that employers pay a wage that reflects the cost of living. Too many workers in Scotland are paid less than the real Living Wage and, at a time of rising costs, are struggling to stay afloat. The real Living Wage can offer protection from those rising costs.”

“Congratulations to Edge Group Scotland Ltd on their Living Wage commitment, and I hope more organisations follow their lead by becoming Living Wage accredited.”

Lynn Anderson, Living Wage Scotland Manager said:

“We’re delighted that Edge Group Scotland Ltd has become an accredited Living Wage employer. They join a growing movement of over 3600 employers in Scotland who together want to ensure workers have what they need.

Our Living Wage employer network includes well-known organisations such as SSE plc, ENABLE Scotland and the University of Strathclyde as well as lots of smaller employers and we hope to see many more follow their example.”
